CEREC technology offers a dental crown in an hour

CEREC crown Bothell

In the past, getting a dental crown required multiple dental visits. There would be one visit to prepare the tooth and make impressions. It was then necessary to place a temporary crown, and the impressions would be sent to a dental laboratory for the permanent crown to be fabricated. After a week or so, the patient would come back to have the permanent crown placed.

However, technology has now made it much easier for Dr. Mulliken to fabricate crowns. He’s invested in the CEREC system here in our office. This allows us to complete crowns in just one dental visit! It’s possible thanks to 3D computer modeling.

How does CEREC work?

The beginning of the appointment is very similar to how it’s always been done: Dr. Mulliken will prepare your tooth to receive the crown. Next, he takes impressions. Instead of dental clay, he uses a special camera attached to a wand. By scanning all around the tooth, he’s able to feed the computer a complete 3D image of the whole area.

The computer generates a 3D model using software, and then designs the crown based on this. Next, the custom-designed crown is fabricated from porcelain right here in our office. No need to mail anything to a dental lab and wait days or even weeks for the crown to be fabricated and mailed back to you. Instead, the crown is created on the spot in less than an hour. Dr. Mulliken can then place the crown using permanent dental adhesive, and you’re on your way.

Do you need a CEREC crown Bothell area?

Our patients are able to take advantage of CEREC technology to have their crowns fabricated and placed. If you’re already a patient of Dr. Mulliken, then this is how he will create your crown. If you’re around the Bothell area and you believe that you may need a CEREC crown Bothell, we invite you to schedule a consultation with Dr. Mulliken.
